DeVanes Distinctive Home Accessories & Gifts, located in Hannibal Square, Winter Park, has been named one of Home Accents Today’s 50 Retail Stars for 2013 by editors of the trade magazine for the home accents industry.

Big donation

Quaker Steak & Lube, known for its Best Wings USA and more than 20 sauces, donated $3,500 to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in honor of the Orlando area being named as the second place city in the “I want my Quaker Steak & Lube!” social media contest.

Driving for kids

Orlando Dodge Chrysler Jeep helped raise $2,020 in funding for the Dommerich Elementary School with Chrysler brand’s Drive for the Kids program.

Attorney disbarred

Attorney Alexander Zouzoulas of Winter Park has been disbarred, the Florida Bar reports. In August 2012, Zouzoulas pleaded guilty in court to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud. Between 2006 and 2008, Zouzoulas and another attorney conspired with persons involved in the development of three condominium conversion projects, to artificially inflate the sales prices of the condominium units. He also made several misrepresentations regarding the condominiums and failed to disclose to lenders the existence of kickbacks or disguised payments.

Park Ave. leased out

Mike Winn and Lief Erickson of Winter Park Land Commercial announced it has leased the last available retail space on Park Avenue at 329 N. Park Ave in the Park Place building to Ethan Allen Retail, Inc. to be used as a design center. Winn and Erickson say this is the first time in over 25 years when every available ground floor retail space on the Avenue has been occupied.
