Hospice searching for volunteers

Florida Hospital HospiceCare is looking for volunteers to provide support in the care of patients and their families. To learn more, attend Hospice 101, a prospective volunteer orientation, on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. at the Florida Hospital HospiceCare office, located inside the Progressive Insurance Building at 901 N. Lake Destiny Road, Suite 400, Maitland. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 800-404-1133, ext. 4761.

The Center for Independent Living is seeking volunteers and donations for its annual Stroll ‘n’ Roll fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Harbor Park at Lake Baldwin. Open to those with and without disabilities, the event promotes diversity and inclusion by giving participants a chance to navigate the world in a wheelchair. The Festival of Bacon takes over Orlando from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2911 E. The Central Florida Watercolor Society (CFWS) will hold its next meeting at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, at the First Presbyterian Church of Maitland located 341 N. Orlando Ave. The meeting will feature a demo by the founder of our group, the talented Ken Austin. Ken will be presenting a taste of what’s to come in his upcoming workshop, “3 Things My Mother Never Told Me About Watercolor.” The workshop, hosted by CFWS, will happen Oct. 7-9 at Webster University, Sanlando Center in Longwood.
