JUNE

Drivers who use Kennedy Boulevard between Maitland and Eatonville should watch for extended detours during the next couple of weeks. The Town of Eatonville’s Gateway Enhancement Project will require complete closure of Kennedy Boulevard between Gabriel Avenue and East Road, as crews do resurfacing. The first closure occurs Wednesday, June 13, through Friday, June 15. There is another closure Monday, June 18, through Wednesday, June 20. Motorists will use Clark Street. Visit cflroads.com

The Art & History Museums – Maitland hosts an opening reception for its newest exhibit, “A Day in the Life of the Research Studio,” on Friday, June 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the A&H’s Maitland Art Center Galleries. The reception is free to A&H members and the cost for non-members is $5. The exhibit continues through Sept. 19. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors (55 and older) and for children (4-18 years). A&H members and children (younger than 3) are free.

Mary Love Dance Projects will hold a summer dance intensive for intermediate and advanced pre-professional and professional dancers ages 16 and older. The intensive will take place from June 25-28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harwood Watson Studios, 1015 S. Orlando Ave. The intensive will feature dance technique classes taught by professional company dancers in contact improvisation, classical ballet, contemporary ballet, pilates, modern and repertory. The Art & History Museums – Maitland (A&H) presents Artists’ Critique & Conversation on the fourth Tuesday of every month. Monday mornings at 11 a.m. at the Winter Park Community Center, there’s a 50-minute Deep Stretch Yoga class that is great for beginners, as well as anyone who wants to get an intensive stretch after a long run or bike ride. Yoga props such as weight balls, yoga belts and ballet bar are used to help deepen stretches. Classes are drop-in and cost $8.
