“Beatlemania” is coming to St. Margaret Mary’s Parish Center, located at 526 N. Park Ave. in Winter Park, on Friday, Sept. 9, and Saturday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $40 for front seats. Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center’s - Savvy Caregiver Workshops will be held every Friday from Sept. 9 through Oct. 14 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Pine Hills Community Center, located at 6408 Jennings Drive in Orlando. Anyone who is providing care, or will be providing care to someone who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or another progressive dementia will find this course useful and a means to obtaining the skills needed to provide excellent care. The Southern Women’s Show returns to the Orlando area Sept. 15 to 18 at the Orange County Convention Center. On Thursday, Sept. 15, the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and Park Avenue Merchants Association will host the popular Winter Park Sip, Shop & Stroll, an evening of wine and hors d’oeuvres in downtown Winter Park from 5 to 8 p.m. Held seasonally, Sip, Shop & Stroll events allow attendees to experience local shops and restaurants at their leisure and preview the latest fashions, gift ideas and seasonal menu items. Newcomers of Central Florida Inc. will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Sept. 15 with a luncheon at the Hilton Orlando/Altamonte Springs, located at 350 Northlake Drive in Altamonte Springs. The event will include a special musical performance by the talented duo of Nora McQuagge and Andree Acevedo. Their diverse repertoire includes everything from traditional ballads and Latin melodies to classic tunes made famous by musical legends like Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Crealdé School of Art kicks off its 2016-17 exhibition season with an original two-venue exhibition of diverse and multicultural artists titled “Spinning Yarn: Storytelling Through Southern Art” opening Friday, Sept. 16, at the Alice & William Jenkins Gallery and the Hannibal Square Heritage Center. The evening begins with a 7 to 8:30 p.m. reception at the Jenkins Gallery and continues from 8:30 to 10 p.m. at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center with live music. The event is free.

Volunteers for the Central Florida Affiliate of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) are raising awareness of this devastating genetic neurological disease through their community fundraising event, Team Hope Walk. Please join the Central Florida Affiliate members at the Team Hope Walk in Altamonte Springs being held on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Cranes Roost Park, located at 274 Cranes Roost Blvd. All proceeds support HDSA’s mission to improve the lives of people affected by Huntington’s Disease and their families. Winter Park Presbyterian Church invites the community to a violin and piano recital on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. with two of the most highly regarded classical musicians in the Central Florida area. The concert will take place in the sanctuary of Winter Park Presbyterian Church. Matitiahu (Mati) Braun, violinist, came to the United States from Israel in 1962 to study at The Julliard School with Joseph Fuchs. After retiring from the New York Philharmonic, Braun relocated to Maitland where he maintains a private studio. Accompanying Braun, Holly Small, pianist, has taught piano at the University of Central Florida and served as staff accompanist and coach at Rollins College and Stetson University. Small is currently a choral accompanist with Orange County Public Schools, as well as a freelance pianist and organist. Selections for the event include pieces from Giardini, Veracini, Busoni, Stenhammar, Bartok, and Copland. Admission is free. Pantry to Plate Chefs’ Challenge is a unique dining event designed to test the culinary skills of three local celebrity chefs. This year, Francesco Aiello from Francesco’s Ristorante, Mark Baize from Roy’s Restaurant and Julie Casey from Outpost Neighborhood Kitchen will take on the challenge of preparing a delectable recipe with ingredients found in JFS Orlando’s Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry. This event will happen on Sunday, Sept. 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Winter Park Civic Center, 1050 W. Morse Blvd. Tickets are $125 per person. Kindermusik Playdates are a fun family time experience mixed with take-home materials. These classes are a great opportunity to experience what Kindermusik is like if you are considering subscribing to weekly classes. For the 12th year in a row, the Winter Park Public Library will hold its annual Bash for Books. This year’s event will celebrate the amazing contributions of British authors as they celebrate Brit lit from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Rachel D. Murrah Civic Center, located at 1050 W. Morse Blvd. The evening will include great music, delicious food and beverage, and an incredible silent auction. Attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the largest number of cities participating in the same race on the same day at the Global Energy Race. On Sept. 25, 37 cities around the world, will run as one. Starting at 6 a.m. at Festival Park, 2911 E. Robinson St., Orlando, runners can participate in a 10K run option as well as a 3K run/walk. Bimbo Bakeries USA will donate two slices of bread to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida for each kilometer completed by each runner in Orlando, which equates to one loaf of bread per completed 10K. First place male and female winners in each city where the 10K is held will be awarded an all-expenses paid trip to run in any 2017 Global Energy Race participant city. After making history as the first non-Greek artist in history to exhibit in the National Archaeological Museum of Greece, Orlando’s fine art photographer Josh Garrick will open an exhibit of new works at the Henao Contemporary Center, the art gallery that opened with Garrick’s work one year ago. The new exhibit, “Classicism from Two Continents,” will include new works along with a tribute to Iris Kritikou, the distinguished European curator who has championed Garrick’s work for three years – beginning with the history-making exhibit at Greece’s world-famous National Archaeological Museum. Merchants along Park Avenue are selling topiary displays of pets and wildlife through the month of September, with all funds supporting the Lost Pets Foundation, WinterParkLostPets.com and Canine Companions for Independence. Last year the same effort raised roughly $3,700.

The Mayflower Retirement Community is issuing a call for local artists to participate in its third annual juried 55-plus senior art show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 1620 Mayflower Court in Winter Park. A Merit Award of $100 will be awarded in each category, and an overall Best of Show award of $200 will also be presented. Categories include: paintings (oil, acrylic and watercolor); drawings (pencil, pastel and charcoal); photography; and 3-D mixed media (wood, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, weaving, basket weaving, needlework and textiles).
