The 2010 Walk Now for Autism Speaks Kickoff, a free informative meeting for those interested in learning about and supporting Autism Speaks, is Thursday, Aug. 26 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Orlando North, 225 Shorecrest Drive, Altamonte Springs. The Fourth Annual Dog Days of Summer Wine & Beer Tasting is at BullFish in Baldwin Friday, Aug. 27. Park from 5:30-8 p.m. Enjoy wine, specialty beer and food tastings at this dog-friendly event benefiting the Sebastian Haul Fund, which helps local greyhound organizations transport retired racing greyhounds to loving homes in other states. Lynx is proposing the following service changes in the area effective Sunday, Dec. 5. Lynx will hear from the public on these changes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28 and 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2 at the LYNX Central Station (LCS) Terminal Lobby, 455 N. Garland Ave.

-Link 313 – VA Clinic (Orange County) – Service will be extended to Winter Park Memorial Hospital on Lakemont Avenue.

-Link 443 – Lee Road Crosstown (Orange County) – The western end of the route will now depart the Rosemont SuperStop along North Orange Blossom Trail, west on Clarcona Ocoee Road and south on Powers Drive and will then resume current routing and additional roundtrips departing Park Promenade at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The 10th Annual Free Grant Workshop for Individual Artists will be held Saturday, Aug. 28 from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Studio 3 at Crealde. Executive Director Peter Schreyer, an exhibiting artist and experienced grant writer and review panelist, will conduct this workshop to inform individual artists about grant opportunities from the state of Florida, United Arts and other organizations. The Winter Park Public Art Advisory Board is proud to announce the newest "Art in Chambers" exhibition featuring the mixed media works of Jeff League. The Orange County Health Department's Immunization Program is expanding its hours to provide more opportunities for parents to get their children's immunizations up to date before the new school year. In addition to weekday hours, the health department is providing back-to-school immunizations Saturday, Aug. 28 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Central office location, 832 W. The Audubon Park Garden District is sponsoring an organic community garden at 1500 Falcon Drive, the original site of the Audubon Park Elementary School. Volunteers will remove grass, build raised beds, amend the soil and install an irrigation system in anticipation of planting vegetables as well as flowers for the spring. One plot has been secured by local Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in anticipation of acquiring merit badges for gardening, as well as water conservation badges.
