The newest Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida branch will be opening in Eatonville at 9 a.m. Friday, June 17. The Eatonville Branch of BGCCF has operated out of a double-wide portable on the Denton Johnson Community Center property since its founding in 1999. The new Club, which will serve more than 220 children annually, is 9,000 square feet and features an arts and crafts/multi-purpose room and a fully equipped learning center, including a computer lab, kitchen, and health and life skills area.

Wednesday Night Pitcher show at the Enzian’s Eden Bar presents “Commando” at 8:30 p.m. June 22. The University Club of Winter Park presents “Muslims in America! Challenges and Opportunities” at 7 p.m. June 22. This free lecture will feature Imam Muhammad Musri, Founder and President of Islam Inc., a national organization representing moderate Muslims, who will address the perceived silence of Muslims after 9/11; the fear Americans have of Muslims; what can be done to alter that perception and the future of Muslims in America. Imam Musri is also president and senior imam of the Islamic Society of Central Florida (ISCF), which oversees 10 Mosques that serve about 40,000 Muslims, and The Peace Institute.
