Commending Preservation Capen

Winter Park's Preservation Capen was recently awarded an Outstanding Achievement award at the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation's 2014 Historic Preservation Awards. Preservation Capen is an ongoing effort to save, move and restore the historic Capen-Showalter House, built in 1885, implemented by three independent non-profit organizations working in concert. The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens, Casa Feliz Historic Home Museum, and Winter Park History Museum engaged in a monumental cooperative venture with no advance notice and few resources. The success of the project demonstrates the strength of collaborations in historic preservation.
