Free tax help

Tax-Aide volunteers, trained and certified by the IRS, will provide free income tax assistance at the Winter Park Library every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through April 15. Individuals seeking assistance should bring pertinent tax documents such as a copy of last year’s income tax return; forms showing income earned, pensions and Social Security; 1099 forms showing interest and dividends; photo ID of self; plus social security cards for all those listed on their return. Keepin’ it real for kids

Maurice Johnson, division president of homebuilder Taylor Morrison, recently spoke at the Joe R. Lee Branch of Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida, located in Eatonville, about habits of successful people. He spoke as part of the club’s “Keepin It Real Series,” an event that focuses on promoting dreams and hope for club members. Nearly 50 club members attended the event, and Taylor Morrison sponsored a pizza dinner afterwards.

Art of development

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts has appointed Leah Shepherd vice president of development. In this role, she will oversee the capital and annual campaigns, and manage the center’s philanthropy team. Shepherd brings more than 20 years of experience in sponsorship management, marketing, sales, and corporate and promotional partnerships to her new role.
