Clothing kids in need

Dr. Phillips Charities, a Central Florida philanthropic organization, continues its COOL FIT program (Clothing Orange & Osceola Learners of Families In Transition). This program provides new back-to-school clothing to all homeless students (meeting McKinney-Vento standards) in grades kindergarten through 12. Approximately 60,000 pieces of top-selling Levi’s brand apparel – including jeans, khakis, cargo shorts, polo shirts and graphic tees – have been purchased by Dr. Phillips and distributed to children registered as homeless throughout the school systems.

Restore donations grow

The Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando Area ReStore recently collected nearly six truckloads worth of donations from Rollins College. The items, which included desks, chairs, maple casework, countertops, sinks, lab stools, shelving and other furnishings, will be resold at a discounted price to help fund Habitat Greater Orlando building projects. The furniture was donated as part of Rollins’ preparation for the opening of the Bush Science Center in September.
