Construction shutdown in Maitland this weekend

SunRail's contractor Bombardier will be reconstructing the railroad crossing on George Avenue beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, April 28, through 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 29.

This work includes replacing rail, ballast, and asphalt surface. During this period George Avenue, between U.S. 17-92 and Maitland Avenue, will be closed to through traffic, with Sybelia Parkway as an alternate route. Access to Maitland Presbyterian Church and SunTrust Bank parking lots will be from U.S. 17-92.

Offices on George Avenue at Maitland Avenue will be accessible from Maitland Avenue. Variable message boards have been installed to advise motorists of the George Avenue crossing closure. Bombardier will setup additional temporary traffic control as needed.
