Winter Park’s district-clinching game Nov. 2 against Timber Creek could have been the Wildcats’ biggest win of the season. Instead it turned into one of their biggest losses.

The Wolves (8-1, 3-1) dominated the Wildcats (3-6, 2-2) from the outset, leaping ahead and setting the tone early in a game that would rapidly become a blowout, ending 49-14.

As Timber Creek running back Jacques Patrick got busy running for 170 yards, his team’s defensive line went to work dismantling Winter Park’s offense. Wildcats quarterback Asiantii Woulard would be sacked nearly 10 times in the game as his offensive line repeatedly threw him to the Wolves.

Woulard would contribute to only one score in the entire game, running the ball 19 yards into the end zone. Backup quarterback Jeff Whitted hooked up with Rafael Lopes for a 65-yard pass play for the Wildcats’ second and final score of the night.

The loss ended the Wildcats’ hopes for a postseason, with Timber Creek taking the final slot for regional action.

Despite the finality that their loss dealt for their postseason, the Wildcats have a promising shot at a final win, traveling to Ocoee (2-7, 1-3) for a 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, kickoff. Ocoee has lost four of its last five games.

Edgewater

In a bizarre twist on their season, the Eagles picked up their third win and a trip to the playoffs in the same night. Edgewater (3-6, 3-1) beat Lake Howell (3-6, 2-2) for the final slot in Class 7A District 3, sealing their shot at the regional championship tournament.

The Eagles again turned to quarterback J.B. Woodman for most of their offense, as he connected on 15 passes for 184 yards to bamboozle the Lake Howell defense. Meanwhile the Silver Hawks waged an air war of their own with more than 220 yards from QB Garrett Kruczek. But by the time Kruczek’s arm got going, the Eagles were already long gone.

Now the Eagles get to finish off the season in style at the 60th annual Battle for the Barrel, hosting Boone (5-4, 1-2). That game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9.
