To wrap up the holiday season with a bright red bow on top, the city of Winter Park will proudly host the seventh Annual Russell Athletic Bowl Parade of Bands at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28. It’s all as a prelude to the Russell Athletic Bowl game on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Florida Citrus Bowl. School bands from the Atlantic Coast Conference and American Athletic Conference teams will march through downtown Winter Park and perform a “Bandastic Game Day Preview” in Central Park. Join Florida Citrus Sports as it celebrates the Florida Citrus Parade, the nation’s second largest sports-affiliated parade! Bring the family and join in on the fun of this time-honored Orlando tradition. The stars of the show are the signature custom floats. Also participating in the parade are university marching bands from the Capital One Bowl, high school marching bands from across the country, high-stepping equestrian units, celebrity guests, and more! This 2013 parade is sure to be bigger and better than ever. Don’t miss one of the most exciting events of Orlando Bowl Week! Winter Park’s Alfond Inn is hosting a New Year’s Eve Gala from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. on New Year’s Eve through early morning to ring in 2014. Live entertainment featuring the Buzzcatz will keep things hopping during a dinner and New Year’s toast. For reservations, contact Rebecca Wisniewski at 407-645-6604.

It’s the Enzian’s James Bond-themed New Year’s Eve Party! Bond is back this year and he’s ready for his Martinis to be “shaken not stirred.” Champagne and signature cocktails will also be served. Prizes awarded to the best James Bond, Villain, and Bond Girl costumes. There’ll also be a balloon drop and party favors. It starts at 7:30 p.m. with a screening of “You Only Live Twice,” a DJ spinning from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., plus a special VIP area. Visit enzian.org for more information.

Now through Sunday, Jan. 5, the city of Winter Park is bundling up once again for “Winter in the Park,” the city’s annual holiday ice-skating rink in Central Park West Meadow. The West Meadow is located at 150 N. New York Ave., on the corner of New York Avenue and Morse Boulevard, in downtown Winter Park. Snowflakes of all ages and skill levels are invited to chill out as they glide, spin and turn at “Winter in the Park.” The rink is open:

• Monday through Thursday, 3 to 9 p.m.

• Friday, 3 to 10 p.m.

• Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• Sunday, noon to 8 p.m.

Snow angels are invited to skate all day for only $10 per skater (skate rental included). For a blizzard of 20 or more people, some cool group discounts are available for all this frigid fun. If you are interested in bringing your whole igloo to celebrate birthdays, special events, private parties or corporate holiday gatherings, the rink is available for rental opportunities.
