OCT. 18

The Maitland Public Library will host a Community Open House on Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. to show the community the improvements made to the Library over the past year. There will be displays, tours and snacks from local Maitland restaurants.

Trinity Prep Theater Department will be performing Shakespeare's “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Twelfth Night” on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 4:30 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2:30 p.m. The Trinity Prep Auditorium is located at 5700 Trinity Prep Lane. Tickets are $5.

Just Between Friends’ fall event at Orlando Jai Alai will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18; from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19; and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20 with a half-priced sale from 6 to 11 p.m. A $2 admission will be charged on Thursday and Friday.

St. Mary Magdalen Church’s CommunityFest 2012 will be Friday, Oct. 19, through Sunday, Oct. 21. Visit StMaryMagdalen.org

Lake Forrest Preparatory School, 866 Lake Howell Road, Maitland, will host a multi-family garage sale on Friday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to noon and Saturday, Oct. 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Ford Drive 4 UR School benefit for the Winter Park High School Band will be Saturday, Oct. 20, at Winter Park High School from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, the Orlando Repertory Theatre and the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will host a free outdoor concert from 5 to 9 p.m. in Loch Haven Park. Visit OrlandoPhil.org/Birthday or call 407-770-0071.

Movie in the Park featuring “Mirror Mirror” is 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Quinn Strong Park in Maitland.

Maitland Public Library events:

Teen Read Week goes through Saturday, Oct. 20.

Mondays, Oct. 15, 22 and 29 will have Lego Engineers from 4 to 5 p.m. for ages 9 to 14. Pre-registration required at the reference desk.

On Thursday, Oct. 18, the Learning Cultural Center Gala will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with the “How we have grown in the last year” presentation at 6:45 p.m.

On Friday, Oct. 19, from 10 to 11 a.m. there will be blood pressure checks.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. there will be Princess High Tea. Registration is required.

On Sunday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m. is author Arnold Breman, “More Laughter in the Wings.”

The Maitland Public Library hosts preschool story and craft time every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Baby time stories and activities are at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday. And Reading Buddies for kindergarten through fifth grade is at 4 p.m. every Thursday.
