Foundation Academy alumna Stevanna "Stevi" Ames, a sophomore softball player at Seminole State College, has been recognized as Seminole State's Female Athlete of the Year and, additionally, with the softball program’s “Coaches Award” for her leadership on and off the field.

For her combination of academics and athletics, Ames has also received the 2017 FSCAA Jean Williams Scholar Athlete Award.

On the field this season, Ames batted .383 over 149 plate appearances. Ames drove in 48 RBIs, notched 15 extra-base hits and scored 43 times while stealing 13 bases in 13 attempts.

The Lady Raiders ended a remarkable season over the weekend with a 53-11 record — a program record for wins.
