City Council Meeting of Feb. 14, 2011
City Council meets the second and fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 14 in the Council Chambers, 1776 Independence Lane. Public Hearings
• Second reading of an ordinance to establish a permitting system for Pain Management Clinics.
• Second reading of an ordinance enabling the transfer of parcel 518.1 to FDOT. This Conveyance will allow FDOT to have a clear title to the CSX right-of-way through the city of Maitland.

• Approval of the City Council minutes of Jan. 24, 2011
• Approve Charter Review Workshop Minutes of Jan. 24, 2011
• Approve Council/MAHA Workshop Minutes of Jan. 7, 2011

• Authorize a contract in the amount of $168,500 with Odyssey Manufacturing Company to convert the existing gas chlorine treatment systems in water plants 4, 5 & 6 to sodium hypochlorite (liquid chlorine) treatment for the city’s potable water supply.
• Rescind the Maitland Concourse DRI Development Order
• Pass a Resolution designating $2 per paid citation received via the Traffic Light Safety Act for police officer training.

City Council members to take office
On Monday, April 25, Councilman Phil Bonus, Councilwoman Linda Frosch and Councilman-Elect Ivan Valdes will be sworn into office. Councilman -elect Valdes will assume Seat #1, Councilwoman Frosch will assume Seat #2; and Councilman Bonus will assume Seat #4.
The Inaugural Ceremony will take place on Monday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the Maitland City Hall Council Chambers. The public is invited to attend this event. For additional information, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at 407-539-6219.
Spring Events and Activities
The city of Maitland always becomes a center of community activity and events each spring season and 2011 will continue this tradition in style.
Maitland Farmers’ Market
The Maitland Farmers’ Market is held each Sunday at Lake Lily Park located at 701 Lake Lily Drive in Maitland. The Market hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weather permitting. The Market will be closed on April 17 to accommodate the Chamber of Commerce Spring Art Festival and on April 24 in observance of Easter Sunday.
Maitland Little League
The Maitland Little League will kick off its 2011 spring season with a parade through the community and special opening day event at the Maitland Baseball Complex located at 361 North Keller Road in Maitland at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19.
Discovery Program
On Saturday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m., the Leisure Services Department will continue its Discovery Program at the Maitland Community Park, 1400 Mayo Ave., with the presentation of a seminar entitled “What should I plant for spring and summer? I need help! I keep killing those plants!” Presented by Barbra Osborne, this program has limited seating and advance reservations are required. Call 407-539-0042 for more information.
Movies in the Park
Leisure Services will kick off its spring ‘Movies in the Park’ season with “Shrek Forever After” at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 and “Legend of the Guardians” at 8 p.m. on April 9. The movies are presented on a 40-foot high-definition screen in Quinn Strong Park, located at 345 S. Maitland Ave. in Maitland. This is a free family event series.
Spring Art Festival
The Maitland Chamber of Commerce will present its Spring Art Festival at Lake Lily Park on April 16-17 and the Maitland Art Center Children’s Art Fest will be hosted by the Maitland Art and History Association at the Maitland Art Center, located at 231 W. Packwood Ave. in Maitland.
