Call me a sucker for a mystery, but I like a day in the evening I would never quite have predicted in the morning. Expectations met can be nice, but hardly interesting.

Variety, as they say – and I believe that is translated often as that which is Unexpected – is the spice of life. I like some hotness . . . just keep a glass of milk handy.

Before anything else I need to explain ONCE AGAIN why my desired evening blog became an early morning blog the following day. I blame Everything Solar. I wrote a column about them a few months ago. We added solar panels for our pool and this fall – even summer – has been VERY different. We have no large trees on our property, but there are LOTS surrounding us. Our max pool temp even in summer has never been much over 80 degrees. In this house now for over five years, we’ve NEVER been in the pool past mid-September. That is until this year. I got in last night and couldn’t get out. The water was AWESOME . . . perfect. So, another evening blog forced into the sunlight! Aih!

Perhaps it’s also good that this is in the daylight since some of what I found for Halloween yesterday is a bit scary! Or funny. Both. Check out the photo gallery if you’re looking for Local Halloween ideas. There’s food and candy, doggie costumes and great things to make the kids laugh and smile!

A few notes of note! Bay Hill Jewelers new spot on Park Avenue (most recent Jacobson’s location, adjacent to Unleashed & Doggie Door) looks very close to opening. And, a sad note for Park Avenue but a great one for their kids, Thread will be closing its doors. The new moms are making a move to have more time to spend with their kids. It’s unfortunate for Park Avenue / Winter Park, but admirable, AWESOME for their little ones. Best wishes on the next chapter in your lives, Julie & Jennifer!

The other photo gallery is of the biggest event on Park Avenue yesterday, the appearance by Anne Romney in Central Park. Turns out, it was her, Cindy McCain, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, former Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey and others, including Local songstress Eva Weingarten to sing the national anthem. See the photo gallery for more!

Today, I’m off to find more Halloween in Audubon Park and Ivanhoe Village so stayed tuned for what I find. I’ve got some pizza in my future at SnoCone & Ice Cream Treats on Corrine! Good thing, too, cause I'm hungry!

Have you been looking longingly for a new friend? Well, today for 'Give A Dog A Home' you may find Austin the perfect contender! Austin is an adorable bundle of toy poodle joy! At 11lbs, this 8yr old boy is just the right size to snuggle up on your lap or nestle at your feet for a quick snooze. Austin enjoys being outside, either exploring nature or simply sunning himself on beautiful Florida mornings. Whether free to roam the yard or on a leash for a walk, this little pup is perfectly content to just to be with his person. He enjoys the company of other dogs, but won't complain if he is your one and only pooch. Austin came to Poodle and Pooch Rescue a matted mess, but now he's white and fluffy! He's relieved that he had some bothersome teeth removed and now loves to snack on yummy treats again. Austin is house-trained, vaccinated, heartworm negative, neutered and microchipped. To adopt Austin or any of our other great available dogs, please visit www.poodleandpoochrescue.org.
