ROSALIND WEIDNER (LIN) passed away 6/8/2014 of respiratory failure following pneumonia-related complications of COPD.

She is survived by her children: Debi Koronka, Tracey Pattillo, Mike Patterson & Wendy Miller; her grandchildren: Brian Jansik, Keesha Miller, Jeremy & Shelby Pattillo; and her longtime friend, George Schreffler.

Lin was born Feb 24, 1941, in Waltham, Massachusetts. She moved to South Florida in 1971, following her college-bound children to Central Florida in 1986. She resided in Winter Park briefly before settling in Winter Garden. After 20 years of work in the architectural industry, she abruptly changed course to combine her two lifelong loves - reading and children.

She became a paraprofessional media clerk for OCPS at Tildenville Elementary where she inspired kids with a love of books from 1989 until 2009. In May of 2005, she eagerly agreed to forego summer vacation with her grandchildren to assist local non-profit agency 4C, Inc. with the massive launch of Florida’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program (VPK) and this became a regular summer vacation “gig.”

After retiring from OCPS at age 67, she was missing “her kids” and decided to help Central Florida’s children once again by becoming a full-time employee at 4C, where she remained until her passing. She was a regular attendee at her grandchildren’s Winter Garden Little League, Pop Warner football and WOHS Cheerleader and Chorus events.

Her love of Winter Garden’s children will long be remembered.

Services will be held Saturday, June 14, 11 am at the New Inspiration Missionary Baptist Church, 617 S Lakeview Ave., Winter Garden. Mrs. Weidner’s family asks that in lieu of flowers, her friends make a donation of new children’s books to a local childcare center, preschool or elementary school.
