On a June 8 diving excursion with his teenage son at Blue Spring State Park, in Orange City in Volusia County, a 56-year-old Ocoee man died, authorities said.

Rhys Dervan was scuba diving with his 16-year-old son that day. The pair surfaced together before Dervan went for another dive alone around 3:30 p.m.

He dived into a cavern roughly 120 feet below surface and was reported missing around 5 p.m. A search began at about 6:45 p.m., during which Dervan's body quickly was recovered, said Gary Davidson, Volusia County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

Details are unknown, but an autopsy to determine Dervan's cause of death will occur.
