SEMINOLE COUNTY  Tevaite Mahaa, 34, of Ocoee, was traveling east with Jason Hix, 23, of Sanford, in a four-door car at 7:30 March 27 near Mile Marker 101 on Interstate 4.

According to witnesses, this car was on the left shoulder illegally passing other vehicles. The driver swerved back into legal lanes to avoid debris, smacking into the left side of the car of Diana Ferro, 36, of Deltona.

The car containing Mahaa continued swerving right and then hit a guide rail, ejecting through the windshield Mahaa and Hix, who both died as a result of not wearing seat belts. Ferro was uninjured and wearing her seat belt.

Troopers continue investigating whether Mahaa and Hix were under an influence and which was driving.
