Orange County District 6 Commissioner Victoria Siplin announced her endorsement of Oakland resident Betsy VanderLey, who is one of two candidates left running for the Orange County Commissioner district 1 seat.

"I am proud to support Betsy VanderLey for County Commissioner. She is a businesswoman who understand(s) the impact of growth on both residents and businesses,” Siplin said, according to a campaign press release. “I look forward to serving with a fellow commissioner who is also guided by faith.”

Siplin’s endorsement makes the fifth commissioner, including Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, to show support for VanderLey. District 1 Commissioner Scott Boyd, District 3 Commissioner Pete Clarke, and District 5 Commissioner Jennifer Thompson have also endorsed VanderLey in her race for Orange County Commission District 1.

"No one understands better the role of County Commissioner than those who have actually served in the seat,” VanderLey said, according to a campaign press release. “I am honored to have the support of Victoria Siplin, as she know(s) firsthand the daily challenges this job entails.”

VanderLey is running against Winter Garden Commissioner Robert “Bobby” Olszewski. The runoff election will take place Tuesday, Nov. 8.
