Orange County Public Schools closed through Thursday

OCPS staff said that 66 of its schools are still without power.

Orange County Public Schools has announced that it will continue to keep schools closed through Thursday, due to the effects of Hurricane Irma.

Schools will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 13 and Thursday, Sept. 14, while crews continue to assess damages and the community recovers from the hurricane.

OCPS posted this message on its Facebook page Tuesday, Sept. 12:

"To OCPS families & employees: we hope you’re all recovering from #HurricaneIrma," the post reads. "Orange County Public Schools will be CLOSED Wednesday, September 13 and Thursday, September 14. We know that many families remain without power, are working on repairs or traveling from out-of-state evacuation locations. While efforts are ongoing, at this hour 66 schools remain without any electrical power."
