Obama’s entourage

In London at the G-20 meeting recently, the British press was flabbergasted by the size of President Obama’s royal entourage. The Brits reported these things that we’ll probably never see in our own press. Obama arrived with 500 staff in tow including 200 Secret Service Agents, six doctors (some health care for a three-day visit), the White House kitchen staff with the president’s own food and water, 35 vehicles, four speech writers and 12 teleprompters. Also present were Air Force One, the presidential helicopter Marine One and a fleet of identical helicopters, plus the presidential limousine. The British press remarked that in these days of “restrained U.S. world image,” did Obama really need to present the “triumphal march from ‘Aida’?”

Groundhog leader

From a longtime reader: “I was eating lunch on the 20th of February with my 10-year-old granddaughter and I asked her, ‘What day is tomorrow?’

She said ‘It’s President’s Day!’ She is a smart kid.

I asked ‘What does President’s Day mean?’ I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln … etc. She replied, ‘President’s Day is when President Obama steps out of the White House, and if he sees his shadow, we have one more year of unemployment.’

You know, it hurts when hot coffee spurts out your nose.”

Giving up jobs

Can you believe this? Our inexplicable president is reportedly closing down our space facilities at the Cape, and we shall now pay the Russians to be our space shuttlers! Our Top Man has also shut down oil drilling — then OK’d it again, and then stopped it again. Are we now paying the Brazilians to drill for oil? Obama loves nothing better than to export American jobs, outsourcing workers’ pay while creating unemployment here at home. At the end of the line, we might well ask just what government it is that our president represents!

Israel support

Democratic big-wheel and former New York City Mayor Ed Koch says, “Israel is facing its most dangerous and critical period. Regrettably Israel does not have the support of the president of the United States, something it formerly could count on.” Ed goes on to say, “Mitt Romney finds the right words, ‘President Obama has thrown Israel under the bus.’” Koch states, “Regrettably the Jewish vote has been tied to the Democratic party since FDR. No matter who’s running for president, many Jews still think it’s FDR. That’s been harmful to the Jewish community supporting the state of Israel.”

Deadly mistakes

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Oliver North writes, “… Stepping back from a leadership position, as President Obama has done, is a deadly mistake for the United States. It offers opportunities for our adversaries and makes our allies very insecure. This is a very naive, utopian idea of how the world works.”

Opera dying

The New York City Opera is reportedly “fighting for its financial life.” Its once-large endowment is now a tenth of its former size. Opera as a genre is visibly dying in the U.S. There are less and less places where young singers today can learn their trade, while opera lovers can find most of their wishes fulfilled on the Internet. Things are changing, all right — and how!

Care here to stay

Well, we got ObamaCare as a fixture, voted for by all Democrats and no Republicans. This fact proves Winston Churchill’s statement that, “Democracy is the worst form of government except for all the others.”
