OCOEE  Two Ocoee High teachers were arrested this week, one of whom faces charges of sexual activity with a minor, police said.

According to Orange County Public Schools, one teacher was arrested Friday, April 21, and the other on Thursday, April 26.

One of the them, 27-year-old Chad Coy, faces three charges of sexual activity with a 16- or 17-year old by a school authority figure. Coy was booked into the Orange County Jail Thursday evening, where he is being held without bond. According to court records, all three incidents reportedly took place between Sept. 25 and Oct. 21, 2016.

The other, 26-year-old Ryan Kirkpatrick, faces two charges of sexual activity with a 16- or 17-year old by a school authority figure. He was booked into the Orange County Jail Friday, April 21, but has since posted a $50,000 bond.

According to OCPS, Coy had been employed with the district since Nov. 17, 2014.

OCPS said both Coy and Kirkpatrick have been on administrative leave since Nov. 1, 2016, and therefore have not been on any district school campus.

“The district has been cooperating fully with law enforcement and will continue to do so,” a news release from OCPS stated. “We take these allegations very seriously. Student safety is our top priority.”
