School board approves OCPS minimum wage increase; welcomes new administrators

Three new West Orange-area principals were introduced at the meeting.

The Orange County School Board approved Tuesday, June 28 a $10 minimum wage for Orange County Public Schools employees, effective July 1. 

The increase for the 2016-17 school year is up from $9 in 2015-16. 

Classified non-instructional employees who are not affected by the minimum wage increase will receive a wage increase of $.38 per hour. 

During the meeting, Superintendent Barbara Jenkins also welcomed newly-added administrators, including three for West Orange-based schools. They are as follows:

Kenya Williams, assistant principal of Westbrooke Elementary

Michelle Thomas, principal of Dillard Street Elementary

Raymond Yockel, principal of Southwest Middle
