UPDATE: This dog, Stella, was found dead over the weekend.

ORIGINAL POST

Orange County Fire Rescue responded Aug. 9 to a crash on the Florida Turnpike near S.R. 429. Crews discovered an overturned vehicle in a ditch with Linda Parr, a resident of Miami, and a dog trapped inside.

Fire Chief Otto Drozd III said the crews worked for more than half an hour to extricate Parr, and she was then transported to the hospital.

A passerby had stopped at the scene before Orange County Fire Rescue arrived and freed a puppy named Leia by opening the cab window. Another family took the dog into its care until Parr’s husband arrived from Miami.

Parr’s other dog, Stella, escaped from the vehicle and is now missing.

Stella is an adult Belgian Malinois and weighs 65 pounds. She has a collar with an ID tag and she is microchipped. She knows the commands sit, down, stay and come.

If you have seen Stella, email the Parrs at [email protected]
