The mayor and commissioners will discuss a proposed ordinance that seeks to modify the pension and benefits plan for the city's general employees. Most of the changes are required by new IRS codes, but some changes have been proposed to make the city offer a more competitive package benefits package. The major change in the package includes a reduction in the eligibility requirements for normal retirement from age 65 with 5 years of service to age 62 with 5 years of service. The alternative eligibility requirements – which include reaching age 70 regardless of years of service or retirement with 30 years of service regardless of age – remains unchanged.
Winter Garden city leaders will also offer their final vote for ordinance 17-04, which proposes the rezoning for 2.29 acres of property located at 555 North Dillard St. from City R-1 to City PUD. This property previously hosted a hospital, which was demolished over a decade ago. The property is now vacant land with pine trees and an open grass area. The applicant wishes to develop the land with 12 single-family homes, six of which will be allowed to have granny flats above the garage. All of the garages will be located and accessed from the rear yard via a shared alley tract and each home is required to have a front porch.
