The Wildcats are on a tear in district play as they head into a long break this week. The Wildcats (11-3, 5-1) have won four of their last six games to keep them on top of Class 8A District 5.

That includes the back-to-back demolition of Colonial by 9-1 and East River by 8-2 to bounce back from their inexplicable 10-2 loss to district rival Colonial, which has lost two thirds of its games this season.

Winter Park has shown it can win the close games, with their conference games separated by an average scoring gap of just two runs each.

The Wildcats played Bayshore in the Big Sun Challenge this week at press time.

They return to the field on a road trip to Oak Ridge, which is winless in the district, at 5 p.m. April 2. After that they host non-district rival Boone at 7:15 p.m. April 3.
