City Commission meeting

There will be a City Commission meeting Monday, Sept. 24, at 3:30 p.m., in City Hall Commission Chambers located at 401 S. Park Ave. Below are a few topics of interest:

Request of Rex-Tibbs Construction Co. Inc. for the property at 271 N. Pennsylvania Ave.:

First reading of the ordinance amending the Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map to change the designation of Commercial to Medium Density Residential.

First reading of the ordinance changing the existing zoning designation of Commercial District to Medium Density Residential District.

Subdivision approval to split the property into three lots for three attached fee simple townhomes and providing for the establishment of special setbacks for the three lots.

Request of Winter Park Town Center Development, LLC, for the property located at 940 W. Canton Ave.:

First reading of the ordinance changing the Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map Designation from Office to High Density Residential; a text change to change the property’s designation on the maximum height map from a maximum three stories to a maximum four stories; and to add a new policy for residential density allowance.

First reading of the ordinance changing the zoning designation from Office to Multi-Family District, and to change the property’s designation on the maximum height map from a maximum three stories to a maximum four stories.

Conditional use approval to construct a four-story, 206-unit residential project and to construct a parking garage of about 300 spaces.

Resolution – Rescinding the designation of 520 N. Interlachen Ave. as a historic landmark property.

Request from New Hope Baptist Church (274 N. Capen Ave.):

Conditional use approval to add two buildings to their property and to use the modular classroom buildings for a children’s day care facility.

125th Anniversary Prayer Breakfast

The city of Winter Park is proud to announce a community Prayer Breakfast to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the city’s incorporation. Please join city and religious leaders for this historic occasion Friday, Oct. 12, at First Congregational Church of Winter Park, United Church of Christ, located at 225 S. Interlachen Ave. The breakfast begins at 7:45 a.m. and will be immediately followed by a prayer service at 9 a.m. in the church Sanctuary. Tickets are on sale now for $25 per person at 407-647-2416 or [email protected]. Your ticket purchase guarantees seating at the prayer service. Purchase now, as tickets are limited.

Winter Park Food Truck Fiesta – Calling all foodies

Winter Park residents will soon be given a chance to experience The Winter Park Food Truck Fiesta – Winter Park Style at Fleet Peeples Park located at 2000 S. Lakemont Ave. The first opportunity will be Saturday, Sept. 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will continue every fourth Saturday of the month at the park.

Food Truck Crazy, promoters of Food Truck Wars and other food truck events, will feature 10 of Central Florida’s finest gourmet food trucks with cuisine choices ranging from Thai to veggie to desserts, and everything in between. There will also be light music provided and children’s activities such as face painting and balloonists. Proceeds will benefit local Winter Park charities. Fairbanks Avenue Informational Meeting

The city of Winter Park will hold a Fairbanks Avenue Project Update meeting Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Winter Park Community Center located at 721 W. New England Ave. 
Please make plans to attend for a project update on West Fairbanks Avenue and a presentation regarding Orlando’s Main Street Programs. Public forum on proposed tree ordinance

The city will host a public forum regarding the proposed changes to the tree ordinance Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. at City Hall Commission Chambers located at 401 S. Park Ave. City staff will provide information regarding the history of the tree ordinance, the current process and will also compare the current ordinance to the proposed ordinance. The public will have an opportunity to share comments and ask questions as it relates to the proposed changes. For more information, please call 407-599-3427.
