The southbound lanes of State Road 429 were temporarily closed Sunday morning, Feb. 26, when a tractor-trailer caught fire. Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol were called to the scene near Exit 13 at 8:27 a.m.

Traffic was diverted onto Seidel Road (Exit 11) while the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported, according to FHP. The road was reopened at 9:35 a.m.

FHP said the Florida Department of Transportation activated a rapid incident scene clearance to remove the remains of the truck and were waiting for all the necessary equipment to arrive on scene.

Lane closures and delays could continue for several hours as the scene is completely cleared.
