Orange County Public Schools and the Orange County Classroom Teachers Association officially ratified their salary agreement Tuesday, April 2.

The OCCTA bargaining unit ratified the agreement for the 2023-24 school year with an overwhelming 99.5% "yes" vote.

According to OCPS, a record 7,123 ballots were cast. Only 35 teachers voted "no," with 7,047 teachers voting “yes." There were 41 “spoiled ballots” that were not counted.

“It is exciting to see our teachers decisively voted to ratify their contract," Maria Vazquez, OCPS superintendent, said. “With this vote, our hard-working teachers have guaranteed their well-deserved raises.”

OCPS and the OCCTA first reached the agreement after a daylong impasse hearing Tuesday, March 5

"The historic 9% average raise will be paid to instructional personnel retroactively to the beginning of the school year," OCPS officials stated in a press release. "Salary increases and retro pay (including advanced degree supplements) will be received in the April 10 paycheck; retention supplement differentials will be paid April 24; and all other applicable supplements will be paid June 5."

The district’s health insurance proposal will be implemented beginning with plan year 2024-25. However, the district will provide a premium discount for the plan year totaling $4.4 million.
