The 2017 Central Florida All-Star Game is set for tomorrow (Wednesday, Dec. 6) at 7:30 p.m. at Lake Howell High in Seminole County.

An estimate of 35 college football programs are expected to be represented and watch as the area’s best senior football players square off one last time. The game’s West team includes players from Orange, Lake, Osceola and Sumter counties and the East team includes players from Seminole, Volusia, Flagler and Brevard counties.

A total of 54 schools are represented this year in the game, which is entering its 19th year.

Twelve student-athletes from schools covered by Observer Preps will participate, with seven that play for schools directly covered by the Winter Park-Maitland Observer and five covered by either the West Orange Times & Observer or the Windermere Observer.

All local players will compete for the West team.

The game has been around nearly two decades, but it is in its second year of having West Orange resident Lo Wood as its point person. Wood, who is the owner and lead trainer for Excel Speed Training, said there is a lot to be excited about with this year’s game.

“We went hard marketing with all the social media sites,” Wood said. “We have at least 20 Division I players that decided to play in the game — that’s huge.”

In addition to things like a DJ, raffles and Under Armour representatives with giveaways for attendees, the game will have other unique features — such as its halftime show, which will include Mitey Mite Pop Warner teams squaring off.

A handful of the players participating are expected to making live college commitments that will be streamed online and the Central Florida Chapter of the NFL Alumni will be handing out invitations to its awards banquet later this month.

Tickets are $8 and proceeds benefit the Aaron Jones Foundation.
