The medical office building at AdventHealth Winter Garden is now open.

AdventHealth representatives hosted members of the community in a grand-opening celebration on Thursday, May 16, to honor the new medical office building at 2200 Fowler Grove Blvd. AdventHealth will be offering freestanding imaging services, pediatric services and sports medicine and rehabilitation services at their newest medical office building in Winter Garden. Primary-care services will be added to the new building by the end of the summer, said Carl Dupper, CEO of AdventHealth Winter Garden.

“We’re celebrating the grand opening of our medical office building and specifically celebrating the freestanding imaging and sports medicine and rehab (center) that are seeing patients already,” Dupper said. “On the second floor (of the new building), it’s a full pediatric space. We have pediatric primary care and sub-specialists, so basically, anything (to do) with kids, that’s your floor.”

Dupper added the pediatric services being offered at the new facility are something Advent-Health Winter Garden did not have on-site before the new building was built. Pediatric specialty services offered at the new facility include endocrinology, orthopedics, cardiology, gastroenterology, surgery, nephrology and urology, among others.

Although AdventHealth Winter Garden already offers primary-care services at its freestanding emergency department building at 2000 Fowler Grove Blvd., those primary-care services will be moved to the new medical office building. That will free up space for other services at the main hospital building. There will be four primary-care providers when those services are moved to the new building, but that number will expand to eight in later years, Dupper said.

“At the end of the summer, we’re going to be moving our primary care from the third-floor location here (at AdventHealth Winter Garden) to the second floor (of the medical office building),” Dupper said. “(That) is going to create more space here (at AdventHealth Winter Garden) for more specialists care.”

In addition to primary-care services being moved to the new building, sports medicine and rehabilitation services also will be moved to the new facility from a previous location in Winter Garden Village.

“(The) sports medicine and rehab (services), really, is a relocation,” Dupper said. “They had a location here in Winter Garden Village. The issue there for patients and residents of Winter Garden, often, is parking. If  you’ve been to Winter Garden Village, you know how hard, sometimes, parking can be. Parking becomes even a worse situation if you’re having a knee, hip or ankle issue, and so, having that (service) here … is going to allow patients (to have) easy-access parking right next to the building, and the space is so much bigger and nicer.”

Sports medicine and rehabilitation services will be housed on the ground floor of the new building. In addition to those services, freestanding imaging services will be offered on the ground floor.

“In the freestanding imaging (center), we have MRI, ultrasound, X-ray (and) anything you’d need imaging-wise, you can get there,” Dupper said. “The MRI ... can sometimes be a daunting test because it’s a smaller space and it can be loud. So, in our MRI machine, it’s the most technologically advanced in Winter Garden.”

“Then for the patient that goes inside and experiences it, (they’re) actually going to be in an entertainment center,” Dupper continued. “(They) can watch a movie.”
