ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Steven Hogan

Tell us about your experience at the Orange County Senior Bowl.

It was a lot of fun. I played Pop Warner with a lot of the kids; we all grew up playing — we all went to different high schools — so it was fun playing with them.

Tell us a little bit about your performance at the bowl. 

I played pretty (well) — the receivers played great, too. They didn’t drop any passes, and they ran great routes. The offensive line — I wasn’t on my back once the whole night. 

What’s your favorite thing about football?

I like the hard work of it. (There’s) just something about the game, like the dedication you have to have to be good at it. 

Tell us about your season at Ocoee and what you enjoyed about it. 

We had a turnaround season. We’ve won more games than we’ve won in the past two years this season, and we have a bunch of seniors that bought into the new program that Coach Bullock brought in. We had a great season. We went 6-4, we were one game out of the playoffs — you know that was kind of upsetting — but then going to the senior bowl and winning that game, it was kind of like playing a playoff game. 

How is the college hunt going, and are you interested in playing football in college?

I’m looking to play at a four-year college. I don’t know exactly where at, but any place that I can play football and get a great education would be great for me. 

Where are some places you’ve been looking around at?

I’ve been looking at Valdosta State, Western State Colorado, Augustana and then a couple smaller schools. I’ve been on a visit to University of Princeton and schools like that. 

What would be your dream school?

I grew up a Gator, so I’d have to go to University of Florida. 

What’s your favorite subject in school and why? 

I like science because I’m looking to major in some type of sports medicine. 

What’s one thing that people don’t know about you?

I like to design cars online. I use a website, and you pick any car and you design the color and the style of car.
