Big week for Winter Park High School's swim teams -- Observer Preps

Both the boy's and girl's swim teams took home a championship.

Winter Park racked up all the awards and recognitions at the Metro Conference Championship this past week as both the boy's and girl's swim team took home conference titles.

On the boy's side, Hector Rodriguez took home the 100-yard breast with a time of 1:00.91, while Payton Cutlip won an individual title in diving. As a team, the Wildcats took home the boy's 400-yard free relay with a time of 3:26.52.

The wins in both individual and team events placed the boy's team in first at 567-points – Boone (376) and Freedom (282) followed behind.

The Wildcat girls went off on the competition as they took home three individual champions and two team titles.

Carolina Cooper grabbed the championship in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.96, while Brooke Nicholas took the 50-yard free in 0:25.74. Caroline Cooper won the 100-yard fly with a time of 0:56.50.

As a team, the girl's squad took the titles in both the 200-yard free relay (1:42.88) and the 400-yard free relay (3:44.87).

The collection of individual and team titles put the Wildcats in first place at 589 points – with Timber Creek (357) and Boone (294) rounded out the top-3.

Up next for both squads is the district championship next week.
