UPDATE: Grandmother Susan Jensen posted that, as of 5:50 p.m., Valerie DeMarco and a friend were both found safe by police and their families were on their way to get them.

A family is in search of a 14-year-old girl in the Independence area of Horizon West.

According to a Facebook post from resident Susan Jensen, her granddaughter, Valerie DeMarco, 14, has been missing since the afternoon of Sunday, March 29. Valerie hasn’t answered her phone, nor has her friend, according to the post.

“I had a text from her indicating something wasn't right, but no contact since, so we don't know,” Jensen wrote, adding that police have been contacted.

Valerie is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and about 100 pounds.

Anyone with information can contact Jensen at (413) 896-7267 and Valerie’s mother, Barbara, at (407) 739-3328.
