An investigation is underway after a fatal hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a 57-year-old woman in Oakland Sunday night.

According to a statement from the Oakland Police Department, Sheena Rodriguez was crossing State Road 50 just west of Tubb Street at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, with her husband when she was struck by a vehicle heading westbound toward Clermont.

Rodriguez was transported to a local hospital, but later died of her injuries.

According to the statement, the vehicle never stopped and is being sought by the Oakland Police Department. The vehicle is described as blue- or dark-colored sedan, possibly with a white top. There is reason to believe the vehicle is an older-model Nissan with front-end damage, police say.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact the Oakland Police Department at (407) 656-9797.
