BREAKING NEWS: Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputy struck by vehicle

The deputy was struck along Apopka Vineland Road, but is expected to recover.

A deputy from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is expected to recover after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of S. Apopka Vineland and Conroy Windermere roads.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy arrived on the scene at around 4:30 a.m. to remove a sign that had been struck by a vehicle. A second deputy arrived on the scene to assist the deputy, and shortly after was struck by a Ford Focus while returning to their vehicle.

According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy suffered serious injuries — a broken arm, a broken leg and head injury — but is expected to recover.

The driver of the Ford Focus remained on the scene.
