Winter Park Chamber donates $10K for Down Syndrome

Down Syndrome donation

The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce presented a $10,000 donation to Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida as a result of the 2012-2013 Chamber Cares project.

Interior renovations

Cuhaci & Peterson Architects, based in Orlando’s Baldwin Park, was awarded a contract to complete interior renovations at Northern Tool and Equipment Company in Casselberry. They will also design a new Central Florida Oral Surgery facility in Oviedo.

New UCF faculty

J. Jeffrey Jones, a vice chancellor at Indiana University South Bend, has been named UCF’s new vice provost for regional campuses.

Community leader award

Leadership Winter Park presented its 10th annual Community Leader Award to Marni Spence, Certified Public Accountant and tax principal at CliftonLarsonAllen LLP, during the Leadership Winter Park Graduation Celebration Luncheon held on May 16 at the Rachel D. Murrah Civic Center.

Rollins construction

Lamm & Company Partners will be the development and construction manager for Rollins College on the new construction of Strong Hall Phase II – a $3.5 million, 16,000- square-foot, three-story structure that will replace an antiquated building at the west side of the Rollins campus. The project will break ground in summer and is scheduled for completion in early 2014. Subcontractors are still being sought for this project.

Bowl-A-Thon

Nearly 150 Connextions employees recently came together at Aloma Bowl to raise money for Junior Achievement of Central Florida’s (JA) annual Bowl-A-Thon. Proceeds support JA programs focusing on financial literacy, workforce readiness, the free enterprise system and entrepreneurship skills.

Women’s care

Winter Park OB-GYN, a division of Women’s Care Florida, has been caring for women in the Central Florida area for more than 40 years, and recently moved into a new, contemporary office space at 100 North Edinburgh Drive, Suite 200.

Double sale

Broker Mike Winn, senior vice-president of Winter Park Land Commercial, brokered the sale of two adjacent office buildings at 135 N. Knowles Ave. and 162 N. Knowles Ave in downtown Winter Park for $675,000. Total square footage combined is 3,800 square feet. The seller was Rosa LP, Ltd, LLLP, and the buyer was Knowles Avenue Acquisition LLC. Winn also represented the seller, Carolyn Franklin Trust, in the sale of the 3,500-square-foot office building at 334 S. Wymore Road, Winter Park. The buyer, Wymore Real Estate LLC, was represented by Lee Zerivitz of CITY Commercial. Sales price was $450,000.
