Join the Gladdening Light for three days of art, music and inspired conversation at the annual symposium in Central Florida at 9 a.m. from Thursday, Jan. 29, to Sunday, Feb. 1. Keynote speaker Barbara Brown Taylor will flank artists Tobi Kahn and musicians Owen and Moley Ó Súilleabháin at All Saints Episcopal Church, the Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College and Casa Feliz. Come join the run on Jan. 31 in The Lady Track Shack 5K, a one-of-a-kind women’s only event set in the beautiful and lush surroundings of Mead Garden in Winter Park. For over 30 years, community leaders, mothers and daughters, sisters and friends have been taking part in this event to celebrate women’s health and fitness. FEB. 1

The Orlando Area Historical Rose Society will meet on Sunday, Feb. 1, in Harry P. Leu Gardens to present “Basics of Rose Growing in Central Florida” by Tom Burke, consulting rosarian. It will cover various aspects of roses and there will be a question and answer period following the presentation. The event and parking are free. Come to Market to Park on the first Tuesday and first Thursday of each month for fresh produce to bring home. The event will be held on Shady Park in Hannibal Square. On the first Tuesday, Feb. 3, it is open during lunch, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., so residents and working families can pick up fresh produce during their lunch break. On the first Thursday, Feb. 5, it is open from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Market to Park program was started with a grant from Healthy Central Florida with the intent to increase access to fresh vegetables in our community.

Join the city of Maitland as they offer a free class in helping create an edible landscape. Jennifer Pelham of the Orange County Extension Office will be giving the class. Sip wine and stroll downtown Winter Park in an evening of wine and hors d’oeuvres with the first Winter Park Sip, Shop & Stroll of 2015 on Thursday, Feb. 5. The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and Park Avenue Merchants Association are hosting this seasonal event. The city of Winter Park will present tutorials on how to save money on your next utility bill and qualify for possible free home upgrades in energy efficiency workshops! Winter Park Chamber of Commerce’s annual Membership Awards Celebration presented by Century Link and HUB International Florida Kuykendall Gardner will be hosted on Friday, Feb. 6. The evening is a tribute to members and volunteers who make the organization and community so remarkable. Come experience a paranormal tour of the Art & History Museums – Maitland’s Maitland Art Center on Feb. 7 with American Ghost Adventures. Attendees will investigate paranormal activity and claims that Andre Smith still lurks on the campus during this two-hour tour. Come feel the love at The Sweetest Sounds: A Valentine Concert in Central Park from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8. The Park Avenue Merchants Association is hosting this free event where attendees will be able to enjoy an afternoon of music and romance. Members of the Bach Festival Choir will join Michael Andrew and Swingerhead for a first-of-its-kind performance in honor of the 80th annual Bach Festival. The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art will open its new exhibition on Tuesday, Feb. 10: a collection donated by Los Angeles lawyer and collector Harry C. Sigman. The exhibit features an etched glass vase from 1900 by Emile Gallé, among many other works. The museum hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday; 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday; and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
