Don’t miss Popcorn Flicks in the Park on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. in Central Park, featuring “The Mummy.” Presented by Winter Park CRA and produced by Enzian Theater, this free film series features classic films for the whole family. Celebrate the opening of two new exhibitions by artist Cicero Greathouse and Leigh Tarentino at the Art & History Museums Maitland Art Center from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10. This Culture Pop event will include interactive printmaking activities, music by Justin and The Outs and poetry readings featuring Caitlyn Doyle and Annemarie Ni Churreain of Maitland Poets & Writers. More than 150 Central Florida artists will display their work at the 41st annual Winter Park Autumn Art Festival in Central Park on Saturday, Oct. 11, and Sunday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy entertainment, food, and hands-on art workshops for children. The festival is hosted by the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, presented by Florida Distributing Company and Subaru, and co-sponsored by the city of Winter Park. Parking is often at a premium during this busy weekend. To accommodate visitors, complimentary valet parking is available at three locations in downtown Winter Park. Plus, a free shuttle service will be available from near the Winter Park Village. A bike valet will also be available for guests who wish to cycle to the event. A secure area will be available to valet park bicycles at the corner of West Park and New England avenues, near the railroad tracks. The bike valet is being organized by the city of Winter Park’s Pedestrian Bicycle Board. For more information, call 407-644-8281.

Attention “Star Wars” fans: this is the day for you! The Maitland Public Library will host Star Wars Reads Day on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. The library will have a “Star Wars” movie marathon, lightsaber Wii battles, snacks, crafts, and our special guests – the 501st Legion (aka Stormtroopers)! Author Mark DeNote will be signing copies of his upcoming book, “The Great Florida Craft Beer Guide,” at the Cask and Larder Southern Public House and Brewery from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11. The Orlando Philharmonic’s top-selling show, “Cirque de la Symphonie,” returns to the Bob Carr PAC on Oct. 11 at 2 and 8 p.m. Cirque meets symphony in this all-new show featuring classical music brought to life as world-class acrobats, contortionists, jugglers and strongmen perform amazing feats of strength and daring. Aerialists soar overhead as the orchestra below accompanies with musical suspense. Selections include works by Strauss, Rimsky-Korsakov and Kabalevsky as well as Leonard Bernstein and John Williams. Orange County Clerk of Courts’ Eddie Fernandez wants to help residents hold onto their homes as local foreclosure rates remain among the highest in the nation. Fernandez will lead a discussion along with several experts on the subject during the Goldenrod Chamber luncheon, which goes from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Goldenrod Station in Winter Park. The annual Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally for Winter Park High School will make its way down Park Avenue beginning at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15. The pep rally at the main stage in Central Park begins at 6 p.m. Show support for Winter Park High School students, faculty and alumni. Go Wildcats! For more information, call 407-599-3463.

Winter Park Annual announces this year’s 2014 Winter Park Wine and Dine, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Winter Park Farmers Market, located at 200 W. New England Ave. Experience more than 30 quality Orlando-area merchants offering complimentary food samples, hors d’oeuvres, craft beer and wine. Participants can take the dining experience even further with a full-plated prix fixe meal option. All ticket holders will have the opportunity to choose from one of the following restaurants for their meal: The Coop, 4Rivers Smokehouse, Carmel Cafe (offering vegetarian option) and John and Shirley’s Catering.
