Watch a free outdoor screening of “Muscle Beach Party” at this month’s Popcorn Flick in the Park, starting at 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, in Winter Park’s Central Park. The 21st annual Mascot Games features mascots from sports teams across the country competing in a variety of games. Fans of all ages will enjoy thrilling and pulse-pounding competition as mascots from MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL and NCAA battle through gladiator-themed games to determine the true champions of the mascot world. The two-day event starts at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, at the Amway Center. Participating mascots include Stuff from the Orlando Magic, Albert and Alberta from the University of Florida, Burnie from the Miami Heat and fan favorite Lil Red from the University of Nebraska. All proceeds from the Mascot Games benefit New Hope for Kids, which provides support to children and families grieving the death of a loved one, and grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses in Central Florida. The first annual Karaoke for the Kritters will be held Monday, July 25, at 7 p.m. at Vespr Craft Coffee & Allures on Alafaya Trail. It will be a fun night of karaoke to benefit Franklin's Friends, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote animal welfare and support animal charities in Central Florida. Maitland's Summer Youth Tennis Camp is now in full swing at Maitland Community Park and runs Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon now until Aug. 14. Head teaching pro Donnie McGinnis will teach the camp, with levels available for beginner and intermediate players. Bring a racquet, water, a towel and sun block. Learn self-defense forms and get healthy at Tae Kwon Do classes at the Maitland Civic Center. The REP (Orlando Repertory Theatre) Youth Academy will be offering more than 80 summer camps from now through Aug. 15. The camps will be held at three locations, including the theater's three-stage facility in Orlando's Loch Haven Park, as well as Celebration K-8 School in downtown Celebration and the University of Central Florida in east Orlando. The camps and productions are designed to foster self-confidence, creative thinking and problem-solving skills through the medium of the performing arts. In partnership with the Orlando Chapter of USA Dance, the Alzheimer's Association Central and North Florida Chapter is bringing a free ballroom dance program to the community. "Ballroom for the Brain" runs from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturdays through July 26 at the Crosby YMCA in Winter Park. Trained dance instructors from USA Dance will teach swing, rumba, merengue and the waltz to early- and middle- stage individuals and their care partners. RSVP is required. Best Paw Forward offers small group classes for dog obedience and behavior problem solving. The classes will be held at the Maitland Civic Center from 7 to 9 p.m. every Monday.
