The Art & History Museums – Maitland’s Telephone Museum will host this months Family Day from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, with a presentation titled “Hello, Signal Corps? Number Please.” Learn about the history of the Signal Corp, their involvement with the “Hello Girls” of World War I, and how they used telephones to communicate. FilmSlam returns to the Enzian Theater on Sunday, July 20, at 1 p.m. with a new showcase of films. Now in its seventh year at Enzian, FilmSlam continues to be a popular outlet for indie and student filmmakers throughout Florida. Usually held at 1 p.m. every second Sunday, FilmSlam is a monthly indie film showcase and competition open to Florida filmmakers and students. This series empowers audience members to select each month’s winner, who then advances to participate in Enzian’s Brouhaha Film & Video Showcase. University Club of Winter Park presents "Still Another Opening – Another Show!” a historical tour through Broadway’s greatest musicals (1960-1990) at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 21. This entertaining musical journey involves narrative, pictures, and videos of some of the great musicals of the late 20th century. Firebirds Wood Fired Grill will host a grand opening from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, July 21 at its new location at 1562 N. Mills Ave. in front of Fresh Market in Winter Park. The 21st annual Mascot Games features mascots from sports teams across the country competing in a variety of games. Fans of all ages will enjoy thrilling and pulse-pounding competition as mascots from MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL and NCAA battle through gladiator-themed games to determine the true champions of the mascot world. The two-day event starts at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, at the Amway Center. Participating mascots include Stuff from the Orlando Magic, Albert and Alberta from the University of Florida, Burnie from the Miami Heat and fan favorite Lil Red from the University of Nebraska. All proceeds from the Mascot Games benefit New Hope for Kids, which provides support to children and families grieving the death of a loved one, and grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses in Central Florida. The first annual Karaoke for the Kritters will be held Monday, July 25, at 7 p.m. at Vespr Craft Coffee & Allures on Alafaya Trail. Maitland's Summer Youth Tennis Camp is now in full swing at Maitland Community Park and runs Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon now until Aug. 14. Head teaching pro Donnie McGinnis will teach the camp, with levels available for beginner and intermediate players. Bring a racquet, water, a towel and sun block. Learn self-defense forms and get healthy at Tae Kwon Do classes at the Maitland Civic Center. The REP (Orlando Repertory Theatre) Youth Academy will be offering more than 80 summer camps from now through Aug. 15. In partnership with the Orlando Chapter of USA Dance, the Alzheimer's Association Central and North Florida Chapter is bringing a free ballroom dance program to the community.
