The Mall at Millenia is hosting an outdoor concert featuring live music by Violectric and DJ Juel from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 at the mall’s main entrance. Ten Thousand Villages on Park Avenue is marking its 10th anniversary with an international-themed evening of food, music and live entertainment on Friday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. There will be Asian-themed food and entertainment at Ten Thousand Villages, a Latin American fiesta in the Hidden Garden courtyard at Ancient Olive and a Kenyan village at the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park. On Sunday, Oct. 30, it's time for the 17th annual Pet Costume Contest hosted by The Doggie Door and sponsored by The New Barker. Medium/large dogs compete at 10:30 a.m., and tiny/small dogs have their time to shine at noon. Trick or treating for dogs along Park Avenue begins at noon. The event will be held in the north end of Central Park near the bandstand. Your dogs can win prizes in many categories during this fun-filled day for the whole family! Proceeds benefit The Sebastian Haul Fund, helping local greyhound groups transport rescued greyhounds to their forever homes. 

Come dance for a cause at Zumbafest on Sunday, Oct. 30 from 1-3 p.m. at the RDV Sportsplex in Maitland. The event benefits the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Non-members are welcome with a donation of non-perishable food items. Costumes optional.

The Parks & Recreation Department of the city of Winter Park will present the sixth annual Pumpkins & Munchkins in Shady Park on Monday, Oct. 31, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. adjacent to the Winter Park Community Center at 721 W. New England Ave. Munchkins of all ages are invited to attend this free family-friendly event. Fun-filled activities will include games, bounce houses, a costume contest, Trick-or-Treat Trail and safe Halloween fun for everyone. On Nov. 11 the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 183 out of Fern Park will be distributing poppies for Veteran's Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sam's Club at 355 Semoran Blvd. in Fern Park. On Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. they will be distributing poppies outside the Publix at Maitland Place, located at 242 N. Orlando Ave. in Maitland.

Healthy Central Florida, Florida Hospital and the Winter Park Health Foundation are sponsoring a way to help Central Floridians stay fit. The Walk90 Challenge started Oct. 1 and encourages locals to walk at least 7,000 steps a day for 90 days and monitor their progress through a free online tool that can sync with most fitness tracking devices. Who is Pierre Matisse? Pierre Henri Matisse is the grandson of French painter Henri Matisse, one of the most important artists of the early 20th centuryMatisse grew up among some of the most famous artists of the times including Pablo Picasso, Georges Barque, Jean Effel, Salvador Dali, and Marcel Duchamp. Today, Matisse uses his talent and boundless energy to refine an art form known as "cut-outs" that translates different mediums into avant-garde mixed media.
