Preview Lifelong Learning offerings at 'An Evening at Rollins'

JUNE 27

The Rollins Center for Lifelong Learning, which offers innovative liberal arts programming for adults 50 and older, will provide a preview of some of the courses that will be offered this fall during “An Evening at Rollins” from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, at Annie Russell Theatre, 1000 Holt Ave. in Winter Park. The evening will consist of short vignettes – presented by Rollins faculty – about some of the courses that will be offered. This free event features five 20-minute vignettes on Florida’s history, dance, Disney and Winter Park, superheroes, and Annie Russell Stage Star.

Fresh from a standing ovation at the Napa Valley Film Festival, “SOMM” showing at Enzian reveals this secret world as it follows four young candidates preparing to take one of the toughest tests in the world – the Master Sommelier exam. George Miliotes of Season 52, one of only four Master Sommeliers in Orlando, will be hosting a wine tasting at Eden Bar immediately following the movie. Mr. Miliotes took and passed the rigorous exam portrayed in the film. Tickets are limited for the tasting.

JUNE 30

The North American Vocal Ensemble will perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 30. This adult chamber choir is highly acclaimed and has performed throughout the United States. Their repertoire includes music from Renaissance to Modern, folk and vocal jazz, to Broadway tunes and spirituals. Donations are welcome. The church is located at 400 S. Lakemont Ave.

JULY 1

Want to learn how to use that complicated camera? Join us at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 1, for a photography class with Paul Miller focusing on camera accessories at the Maitland Public Library. Visit maitlandpubliclibrary.org for more information.

The Tarflower Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will meet at 7 p.m. on July 2, at Harry P. Leu Gardens, 1920 N. Forest Ave. in Orlando. Marc Godts, owner of Green Isle Gardens Nursery, and Ecologist Catherine Bowman will discuss “Landscaping Your Dry, Sunny Yard with Native Plants.” This program is free and open to the public. The Art & History Museums –Maitland’s (A&H) popular program Ladies’ Art Lounge continues with bookmaking fun on Friday, July 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the A&H’s Germaine Marvel Building, 210 W. Packwood Ave., Maitland. Ladies’ Art Lounge is designed for women who want an evening out with friends where they can talk, have a glass of wine, and learn something new in a casual and fun atmosphere.
