JULY 1

Come out to Baldwin Park’s Independence Day Bash from 6-9:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, in the Village Center. Join your neighbors and friends for arts and crafts and food vendors, and musical entertainment by Room 2 and the Orlando School of Music. Get glow sticks for the kids at the Rotary Club of Baldwin Park’s booth and then enjoy fireworks over Lake Baldwin at 9 p.m. Baldwin Park resident and WESH 2 meteorologist Jason Brewer will be the master of ceremonies.

JULY 3

Come celebrate the city of Altamonte Springs’ 17th annual Independence Day at Red Hot & Boom. The event will be 4-11 p.m. at Cranes Roost Park on Tuesday, July 3. The event features live entertainment brought to you by XL106.7 Radio, children's activities, vendor booths, food, drink and a 25-minute fireworks display. Fireworks will begin at about 9:30 p.m.

JULY 4

Come to the 21st annual Hunter Vision July 4th Watermelon 5k Run/Walk at Mead Garden, 1300 S. Denning Drive, at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4. Funds raised from the event will support the Track Shack Foundation. In addition to the run, there will be a watermelon-eating competition at 8:30 a.m. For more information, visit trackshack.com

The city of Winter Park will present its annual Olde Fashioned 4th of July Celebration at Central Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown Winter Park on Wednesday, July 4. The celebration will feature live patriotic music, horse-drawn wagon rides and more. Children’s activities will include the annual bicycle parade at 9 a.m. from City Hall to Central Park. (pic) The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art will present its Independence Day Open House on July 4. The museum, which is home to the world’s most comprehensive collection of work by American artist Louis Comfort Tiffany, will provide free admission to its galleries from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pictured is Edward Lamson Henry’s 1864 oil painting “9:45 A.M. The "Tow to Go" program safely removes impaired drivers from the roads during holiday weekends. This program is free and open to both AAA members and non-members, and is 100 percent confidential. Call 1-800-AAA-HELP for assistance and a AAA tow truck will take the vehicle and driver home safely. Tow to Go is available from July 4-7.

JULY 7

Orlando-area vegetarians and animal advocates will celebrate the Fourth of July holiday at the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida's 13th annual "Independence for the Animals" potluck picnic. The event is Saturday, July 7, at 2 p.m. at Mead Garden, 1300 S. Denning Drive. The cost is a $3 donation and we ask that you bring a vegan dish to share. RMayFlowers Productions in association with Breakthrough Theatre of Winter Park present "Stop Kiss" by Diana Son. Ballroom dance lessons for beginners and intermediates will be given for eight weeks every Tuesday beginning on July 3. Classes are at Winter Park Farmers Market, 200 W. The Tarflower Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will meet on Tuesday, July 3, at 7 p.m. at Harry P. Leu Gardens, 1920 N. Forest Ave. Dr. Pat Ashton, botanist from the Ashton Biological Preserve, will present an outstanding program called "Humans and Gopher Tortoises can Forage Together." The meeting is free. There will be no yard waste or recycling collection service in unincorporated Orange County on Wednesday, July 4. If Wednesday is your yard waste and/or recycling collection day, it will be collected on the next Wednesday.

JULY 5

The Winter Park Police Department and the Victim Service Center of Central Florida will host free women’s safety awareness classes for interested women that have a tie to the city of Winter Park. The classes will be offered Thursday, July 5, and Thursday, July 12, from 6-8 p.m. at the WPPD, 500 N. Virginia Ave. Ages 14 and older are welcome. Baldwin Park’s First Friday Festival & Art Stroll will be 6-10 p.m. on Friday, July 6, along New Broad Street in the Village Center. Presented by the Baldwin Park Merchants Association and The Arts Hub Florida, this family-friendly event is free. This event will feature local businesses and some of the region’s emerging and accomplished local artists of all mediums from the Central Florida community creating their works live with original art for sale.
