Celebrate the grand opening of Florida Hospital for Women on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Orlando. Each year the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, Park Avenue Merchants Association and Winter Park/Maitland Observer celebrate the local businesses and organizations that make our community so exceptional through The Ovations. The Maitland Civic Center is proud to host its monthly 4th Friday Food Truck Event on Friday, Jan. 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will feature food trucks, live entertainment, a beer and wine bar, indoor and outdoor seating, lawn games and movies for the children.

Share Fair Nation Orlando, a free, family-friendly event geared toward STEM majors, will take place on Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the UCF College of Education and Human Performance. Participants can take part in hands-on workshops about educational methods using technology through STEMosphere, an expo of interactive STEM projects.

Florida Hospital invites you to kick off the new year with the Seasons 52 Park Ave. 5.2K on Jan. 23 at 7:30 a.m. Run in Winter Park to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida and the Track Shack Foundation. Come out to a lacrosse benefit hosted by Trinity Prep for student John Michael Night, who recently suffered a devastating brain stem stroke, leaving him paralyzed. The benefit will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Trinity Prep School in Winter Park. All proceeds will go toward John Michael’s recovery. Admission is a $5 donation. Come out to the annual GladdeningLight Symposium of the spiritual arts from Friday, Jan. 29, through Sunday, Jan. 31. This year’s symposium will feature world-renowned poet and associate fellow of Oxford University’s Saïd Business School David Whyte. Joining him are Irish brothers Owen and Moley Ó Súilleabháin, who harmonize a cappella ancient canticles and Gaelic sean nos traditional folk hymns. Make a difference for animals in need by attending Pookie’s eighth annual RescueFest, a fundraiser and adoption day to benefit local non-profit animal rescue groups. This year’s event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, at the picturesque Lake Lily Park in Maitland. This fun-filled annual event seeks to increase awareness and promote the adoption of homeless pets, tens of thousands of which are abandoned and turned in to local shelters every year in Central Florida. The Central Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists presents Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza - An Introduction to the Pipe Organ for Young People on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Winter Park. The free event includes a presentation on the pipe organ, a musical demonstration of the instrument, and a chance for students to play the organ. This event is open to students of all ages.
