Pianist and performing musician Tim Conyers will be performing an array of American music – Broadway hits, and jazz and pop tunes – at the Woman’s Club of Winter Park from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. The Woman’s Club of Winter Park is at 419 S. Interlachen Ave. Advance-purchase tickets are available at timconyers.com or at the door, and are $25 for adults and $15 for students. Members of Central Florida Community Arts' Symphony Orchestra will perform “Thriller,” a concert of classics and Halloween hits, on Oct. 23 and 24. “Thriller” will be performed at Calvary Assembly, located at 1199 Clay St. in Winter Park at at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Maitland Symphony Orchestra is a community group of over 120 members that all share the love of performance and playing beautiful music. The concert on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. lets a wider audience of families come picnic at this open-air concert on the beautiful outdoor stage at Mead Botanical Garden in Winter Park. Healthy Central Florida and Florida Hospital will host the fourth annual Sole Challenge walk, encouraging schools, faith-based groups and nonprofit organizations to walk in friendly competition to win cash and health prizes. The 2-mile walk will be held Oct. 24 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Quinn Strong Park, located at 347 S. Maitland Ave. The walk kicks off Healthy Central Florida’s three-month community walking program, Walk90. By logging their steps, participants can win weekly prizes and a grand prize. Franklin’s Friends is proud to present the second annual HOWL-O-WEEN Dog Walk-a-Thon and Canine Costume Contest from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 24. This year, the Maitland-based non-profit is excited to announce a new venue for the event at Secret Lake Park in Casselberry. The 16th annual Park Avenue Pet Costume Contest will be presented by The Doggie Door on Sunday, Oct. 25, featuring large dog contest at 10:30 a.m. and small dog contest at noon, and pet trick or treating up and down Park Avenue from noon to 3 p.m. including over 30 Park Avenue merchants. Keynotes in the Park, a free, educational public speaking event, will feature three speakers on Oct. 27 at The Grove at Mead Botanical Garden, located at 1500 S. Denning Drive in Winter Park. Leadership Winter Park presents Oktoberfest on Oct. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event offers complimentary craft beers, German wines, appetizers, games, a yodeling contest, 50/50 raffle and prizes. The Winter Park Voice and Casa Feliz will host a panel discussion on historic preservation from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Winter Park Community Center, located at 721 West New England Ave. Moderating the event will be Beth Kassab, award-winning columnist of the Orlando Sentinel. Panelists are among Florida's foremost experts on historic preservation. Come out to the Community Center on Oct. 29 for a lively, informative discussion.

A Halloween-themed Get Your Jazz On concert will take place at the Alfond Inn courtyard lawn on Oct. 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Admission includes the concert, unlimited select wine, champagne, beer, smoked pig, a vegetarian selection and valet parking, with prizes offered for best costume. The Baroque Chamber Orchestra, Performing Arts of Maitland’s newest musical group, performs at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Maitland Presbyterian Church, located at 341 N. Orlando Ave. Listen to the enchanting sounds of harpsichord and strings under direction of Dr. Alvaro Gomez. The BCO brings Baroque alive and even into the 21st century by playing contemporary compositions in the style of the Baroque. The cost is $10 admission at the door. The Parks & Recreation Department of the city of Winter Park will present the fifth annual Pumpkins & Munchkins in Shady Park on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., adjacent to the Winter Park Community Center at 721 W. New England Ave.
Munchkins of all ages are invited to attend this free family-friendly event. Fun-filled activities will include games, bounce houses, a costume contest, Trick-or-Treat Trail and safe Halloween fun for everyone.

The 42st annual Great Day in the Country Arts & Crafts Festival is produced by the GFWC Oviedo Woman's Club. For the past two decades the GFWC Oviedo Woman’s Club has held the Student Art Fest during our Great Day in the Country Arts & Crafts Festival. The artwork is on display at the Lawton Elementary School cafeteria. Awards are announced and presented during their opening ceremonies at the main stage. Since 1994, over $27,500 in art scholarships have been awarded to deserving senior art students. There will be student artwork from Carillon, Evans, Geneva, Lawton, Partin, Stenstrom and Walker elementary schools, Jackson Heights and Lawton Chiles middle schools and Hagerty and Oviedo high schools. Come on over to the Lawton Elementary School cafeteria and view the submitted artwork. The partners and sponsors for the Student Art Fest are long standing. Each of the sponsors is committed to the future of our young art students and the GFWC Oviedo Woman’s Club is privileged to call them “partners.” Commissioner Bob Dallari sponsors two scholarship awards for graduating high school art student applicants from Oviedo High School and Hagerty High School. Oviedo Mayor Dominic Persampiere sponsors a $50 award to each participating school for the art department. Oviedo Mower & Garden Center sponsors the High School artwork displayed at Great Day in the Country: 1st place $200, 2nd place $100, and 3rd place $50. The Garden Center also sponsors the 3rd place art scholarship award. Seminole Cultural Arts Council sponsors a $500 scholarship award for graduating high school art student applicants from Oviedo High School and Hagerty High School. The Law Office of Timothy A. Moran sponsors the Student Art Fest participation ribbons and programs. The festival, which is free to attendees, is on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Historic Lawton House and Lawton Elementary School in Oviedo, located at 200 W.
