Orange County mayor starts toy drive

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs has launched her 2015 Holiday Heroes Toy Drive. This is the fifth year Mayor Jacobs and her team has facilitated the toy drive, which serves children from infants to 18 years old. People are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to participating drop-off centers. Last year, Orange County collected more than 4,600 toys for area children. The goal this year is to collect 4,700 toys. Donations will be delivered to children in need through the Orange County Neighborhood Centers for Families, Wraparound Orange, Orange County Public Schools’ Homeless Program, the Community Food and Outreach Center and Toys for Tots. Mayor Teresa Jacobs’ Holiday Heroes Toy Drive lasts until Dec. 14. Sponsors and partners include WOFL Fox 35, the World’s Finest McDonald’s, Valencia College and Winter Park High School. Toys can be dropped off at all Orange County Fire Stations, Orange County Parks & Recreation Facilities, the Orange County Administration Office, located at 201 S. Rosalind Ave. in Orlando, and the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts Box Office.
