On June 11, the Art & History Museums – Maitland was the recipient of the generous help of more than a dozen BB&T employees. With loads of energy, a dozen hardworking volunteers made a huge impact on the preservation and care of the Art Center Campus.

United Arts’ voting campaign, The Arts Matter, Your Vote Matters!, ran for 14 days. After more than 12,250 total visits to TheArtsMatter.com, the winning organization with 1,544 votes is Enzian Theater. They will be presented with a check for $5,000. The five runner-up organizations are: The Center for Contemporary Dance – 829 votes, Orlando Shakespeare Theater – 782 votes, Bach Festival Society of Winter Park – 674 votes, Orlando Repertory Theatre – 622 votes, and Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra – 544 votes.

Habitat for Humanity of Winter Park-Maitland dedicated a new home on June 7. The wheelchair-accessible house is located at 701 Symonds Ave. in Winter Park. Chad Modomo of Winter Park has been named to the 2011 spring semester Dean’s List at West Virginia Wesleyan.

Bryan B. Danley of Maitland was named to the President’s List of Mercer University’s School of Engineering for the spring 2011 semester.

Florida Hospital’s support and mission service group, Global Mission Initiatives, recently led a professional team of Florida Hospital’s environmental service employees to the outskirts of Haiti’s capital, Port-Au-Prince, to share best practices in hospital safety/infection prevention.

Keep Winter Park Beautiful is calling for nominations for four awards recognizing businesses and residents that have acted to beautify Winter Park in the past year. One Beautification Award and three Green Awards will be presented to the winners at the City of Winter Park’s Commission Meeting on August 8. Deadline for nominations is July 5.
