Full Sail University student Kyle Troxell won first place in the Documentary category at the Palm Beach International Film Festival’s 2011 Student Showcase of Films (SSOF) for his film “Chocolate Cake”. The students will be presented with their awards at the SSOF awards ceremony Friday, March 25.
The Orange County Neighborhood Preservation and Revitalization Division announces the availability of approximately $150,000 for applications for housing repair projects and programs in the unincorporated area of Orange County. This funding is available to nonprofits and faith-based organizations. MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando is launching two programs for cancer patients with funding from Livestrong grants. Working in partnership with United Arts of Central Florida, The Creative Center’s Artists-in-Residence program will offer patients the opportunity to learn about and become absorbed in their own creative resources as they meet the challenges of diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. On March 14, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida launched the “Building Solutions to Hunger” capital campaign, a large-scale fundraising effort that will help build a 100,000-square-foot headquarters.
